This restaurant may be small but the taste and look of the food is amazing. The portions that you get is amazing. All I needed at the end of my meal was a nap. When visiting this area again I will be back. The owner is absolutely sweet. More

While vacationing in North Carolina, I discovered Berkeley Cafe—a true gem 💎. On a quest for the perfect Reuben, I tried theirs and it was the best I've ever had, served with crispy potato chips 🥪🍟. The chef is like a sandwich angel from … More

I cannot say enough great things about Berkeley Cafe! I went yesterday for the first time and had the BEST Philly cheesesteak I’ve had in a long time. The house made chips were amazing (very crunchy). Prices for food and beers are fair especially for the area. Service was great too! Highly recommend. More

We went there for wings, not on the menu anymore. Had a rueben sandwich, not much corned beef, was not outstanding. Onion rings were good.My friend had a burger, and he said it was good. More

One member of my group ordered the "shut up and eat it" with the caveat of "no bread. gluten free". Chicken was breaded and fried. Sent back because can't eat bread. They rushed out a replacement with grilled chicken. It was raw in the center. Decided to "shut up and not go back". The tatter tots were good.

Really good Sunday breakfast. I try to go every Sunday and find my way in through parking there. Breakfast tacos are really good with hotter sauce.

We went to watch a friend play live music the other evening. Chill bar, very nice staff, and pretty good prices for Raleigh. We ordered these nachos covered in everything and they were delicious. Took forever to find parking, but the bar itself was great!

Cozy, welcoming, unpretentious, vibrant space featuring wallet-friendly drink prices. Limited but adequate food menu (burgers, chicken, etc). Located across street from Red Hat Amphitheater make this an ideal before or after event stop. Is part of the DTR Social District. More

Whether you're an old Raleigh head or a fresh Raleigh transplant, you can't miss this authentic Raleigh institution. Great food and good vibes abound at the Berkeley Cafe. The spirit (and menu) of Sadlacks lives on.... and while you're there, check out their super cool community garden! More

Always enjoy the Berkeley. I miss the old location but the new location will do just fine. Alex is always friendly and helpful. Bartenders were super busy as it was Hopscotch, but they still managed good service. Mostly usually there for music and drinks... so no food review, but the food always looks great and everybody says it's great. Good drink prices. Good selection of beer.

Excellent sandwiches, people, and personal service that isn’t stuffy. This cafe makes you feel like you are at your friend’s house for lunch. So I’ve spent the week ordering three different sandwiches, like the Turkey applejack and Skillinator, which were two of many famous menu items from Sadlack’s Heroes. If you aren’t local, ask someone about this icon of Raleigh lunchtime.
Be greeted with the smell of bacon on the grill, Elvis Costello playing in the background, and some of the best vibes. The bread is fresh, and the balance of flavors are just simple. No hubris –and without hurting your wallet. Rock n’ roll on a bun.
I’m posting two pictures today and I’ll make sure I add the captions and descriptions later.

Great hospitality, a very welcoming little cafe to ALL people. There was different board and card games to play, very entertaining. I got the "Shut up and Eat It". Best thing I've ever eaten in my life, was blown away how good it was. I recommend the food here. Good prices as well. Had a blast here. Food portions are great. Everyone is friendly here, a quality place you need to visit.

I love finding diners, so naturally I found Berkeley Cafe. Yes, it's divey but the food is excellent (seriously), full bar, good beer selection.
Simple spot without the pretenousness of the hipster spots. Berkeley Cafe is always a hit.
They have a great live music and open mic culture established too. Most vibey back patio in downtown too. Iykyk
Very simple and very good.
Kids friendly too.

I know things are coming back to life. With great hopes I ventured out after long time in this cafe with four plus ratings. Now I am giving it only three, one is for grace as things come back to normal. Music was good. Coffee filled and we were promptly forgotten, half an hour later came to take the order , half an hour later, the order appeared sans cheese and condiments as asked for. Servers were rushed, nonchalant and bonding with familiar customers and leaving newcomers alone. Will not recommend and food is tasty even if tots were bitter maybe because of reused cooking oil. Hopefully things get better with management showing some
genuine post pandemic almost world, effort and a Ted Talk Session and owner is vehemently denying about coffee, when it’s literally posted here and it was recorded music, I’ll definitely try again and that’s called grace ❤️

Great little hole in the wall place. Had been many years since last visit, and although there had been changes such as closing off the side room and bringing in the vintage bar from Sadlack's, the grill and overall feel has definitely aged well. Really enjoyed the 'back stage' covered patio area out back; the musical trio this evening were amazing. The cafe staff and patrons were friendly, food tasty with good portions and fair prices, and over all had a really enjoyable time. Highly recommend.
